How to apply the screen protector
The first step is to clean the screen thoroughly. You can use a microfiber cloth and a screen-safe cleaner. I'll add that it's best to do this in a dust-free area, like the bathroom after a hot shower, because the steam helps settle dust in the air.
Once you're done cleaning, grab the edge of the screen paper and make sure it's aligned with the iPad screen. Make sure it's aligned with the screen edge and the cutout. Once you're done, gently apply the screen protector to the screen. Make sure to start with one edge. Again, don't apply to all four sides at once. Start with one edge. IPad screens are robust, but the anti-reflection treatment and oleophobic coating can be easily damaged by tiny grit/dust particles that are unavoidable in many environments. The oleophobic coating is a chemical sacrificial layer that will wear-out over time.
